Our mission
UTC’s mission and belief are that every community regardless of the location deserves the chance to flourish in a positive environment creating a healthy thriving neighborhood helping every resident. UTC is devoted to teaching intergenerational residents how to have a community that is healthy-financially, physically, and spiritually. UTC will support a non-judgmental, and nurturing environment in which residents can be helped in reflecting honestly on their lives and set goals for the future.
UTC will form partnerships and collaborations to use available resources to promote and strengthen infrastructure development for the housing communities served. UTC’s ultimate purpose is to create empowered communities not just housing developments.
Our Programs
Youth Programs (K-12): In Partnership with local schools
- After-School Tutoring and mentorship-Provide academic support and positive role models for students.
- Youth Leadership Development-Empower teenagers to become community leaders and advocates.
Adult Programs: In Partnership with Workforce Development Programs
- Financial Literacy and Planning-Offer workshops on budgeting, savings, and financial stability.
- Job Training and Placement-Provide skills training and connect residents with employment opportunities.
- Health and Wellness Initiatives-Organize fitness classed, nutrition workshops and health screening.
Intergenerational Programs: In Coordination with Community Sponsorships
- Mentorship Pairing-Match senior citizens with youth for guidance and support.
- Community Garden-Bring residents together to grow fruits, vegetables, and community spirit.
- Cultural Events and Celebrations-Host festivals, potlucks, and performances showing diverse traditions and cultures.

- Neighborhood Clean-up Events-Organize community clean-up initiatives and promote environmental stewardship.

Dr. Dry-Burton’s remarkable background consists of several degrees, training, and certifications that enable her to be an astute and informed trailblazer in education, Training and Development.

They are also skilled at developing low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC) and tax-exempt bond multifamily properties in the Carolinas and Virginia. Leslie Ware is a Physician Associate with 25 years of clinical experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Orthopedic Pain Management. She is also a Community Health Educator with over 45 years of experience with cardiovascular disease and diabetes prevention and treatment. She is the owner and Clinician of Alpha Health & Wellness, DPC, (AHAW), is located in the southwestern corridor of Mecklenburg County.
